Welcome to Thamnus Wines, where our focus is entirely on producing exceptional Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. For the past decade, our vineyards have been a hidden gem nestled in a remote corner of the Overberg where renowned wine regions converge. Our maiden vintage has been met with high acclaim, affirming our dedication to excellence.

This unique terroir also nurtures the exquisite and rare ‘fynbos’ mountain rose, Orothamnus Zeyheri. The name “Thamnus” pays homage to the rose which is found on our farm and in very few other places in the Western Cape of South Africa. This remarkable flower served as the inspiration for our label’s artwork, beautifully captured by the owner.

Thamnus’ vineyards are positioned on the north-facing slopes of the Klein River Mountain range overlooking the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. This location offers ideal cool-climate conditions and a special viticultural environment for cultivating Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The extended hours of sunlight, coupled with cooler evenings, allow for a reduced hanging time, which helps preserve the natural acidity that defines the vibrancy of our wines.
